How It All Started

Before coming to the US in 2009, Autumn had never used or seen an oven. She was so curious about this big box in the kitchen. She spent countless hours experimenting with the oven while taking her master's degrees. Cake is built into American culture. However, Autumn had a hard time finding cakes that are not old-fashioned or overly sweet. Instead, she was so excited to find all kinds of baking supplies in the stores. She fell in love with baking immediately. After graduation, Autumn worked as an auditor. She spent all her free time baking cakes, cookies, macarons, and tarts. Sharing them with family and friends is her favorite moment!

 

 

Going for It

As Autumn honed her craft, she made cakes for family birthdays. Then friends who came to those birthdays started asking for cakes. A great friend shared her work in a Facebook group. Her work got tons of attention overnight. People said they were willing to pay for her to make cakes for them. She started to take orders. One day, a wedding planner reached out to see if she could make a cake for her clients, who were an Indian couple and were looking for a wedding cake of tropical flavors with detailed piped henna patterns. They were impressed by Autumn’s cakes and skills. Autumn Cake Design was found soon after. 

 

Design for All

It was clear that design is a part of Autumn’s mission from the very beginning. Autumn gets inspiration from everything around her, especially the beautiful natural scenery of the central coast, the rock, the ocean, and the flowers. It can be abstract, whimsical, elegant, modern, and surprising. Each cake shows her something new.
